• It otherwise called Canton and earlier romanized
  as Kwangchow, is the capital and most crowded
  city of the area of Guangdong in southern China.
  On the Pearl River around 120 km (75 mi)
  north-northwest of Hong Kong and 145 km (90 mi)
  north of Macau, Guangzhou has a past filled with
  more than 2,200 years and was a significant end
  of the oceanic Silk Road, and keeps on filling in
  as a significant port and transportation center,
  just as one of China's three biggest cities. Long
  the main Chinese port open to most remote
  dealers, Guangzhou tumbled to the British during
  the First Opium War

• The old town of Guangzhou was close Baiyun
  Mountain on the east bank of the Pearl River
  (Zhujiang) around 80 miles (129 km) from its
  intersection with the South China Sea and around
  300 miles (483 km) underneath its head of route.
  It directed the rich alluvial plain of the Pearl
  River Delta, with its association with the ocean
  ensured at the Humen Strait. The current city
  traverses 7,434.4 square kilometers (2,870.4 sq
  mi) on the two sides of the stream from 112 57'
  to 114 03' E longitude and 22 26' to 23 56' N
  scope in south-focal Guangdong.
