  • The keyboard is one of the most important
components in a MacBook. Because it is the most
used. With a damaged and not working keyboard, it
is very hard to type in a laptop.
  • This Video Shows how to replace the keyboard on a
MacBook that has metal rivets. All the Parts and
tools used can be found on our website.
  • Replacing the keyboard on almost every single
Macbook is tedious, and if you are ever tried to
do it, you have probably run into a few problems
where either there are so many screws that you
need to take out of the back, or there are
rivets, plastic rivets, and something there are
    metal rivets.

3
Steps
  • The keyboard is connected to the entire assembly,
which means you will actually need to replace the
entire assembly if need a MacBook Pro keyboard
replacement. Use this DIY guide from CPR to do
so. We show you some tips and tricks when you
    encounter metal rivets.
  1. To begin, flip your MacBook Pro over.
  2. Remove the lower case of your MacBook Pro by
unscrewing the small screws Carefully lift away
and set aside the lower case of the laptop.
  3. Using a spudger, pry the battery connector out of
its socket in the logic board. Then, bend the
battery cables back and out of your way.
  4. Three AirPort antenna cables need to extract from
    their sockets.

4
Steps
  • Use the tip of your spudger to push the
connecting cable of the camera out of its socket.
  • Use a spudger to pry up the fan connector out of
its socket on the logic board.
  • Removing the battery before lifting out the logic
board is not strictly required but makes removing
the logic board easier and safer.
  • Gently pull the AirPort card out from the MacBook
    Pro.
  • Lift the logic board from its left edge and raise
it until the ports clear the side of the upper
    case.
  • Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the hard
drive connector straight up off the logic board.
  • Remove the three 2.5 mm Phillips screws securing
the optical drive to the upper case. Lift the
optical drive from its right edge and pull it out
    of the computer.
  • Using the flat end of your spudger, remove the
    keyboard backlight connector.

5
  • The first thing that we need to do is remove this
protective sticker. This helps prevent things
from getting inside the device. Got quite a bit
of adhesive, but it will come off with a little
bit of effort. We need to then unscrew all of the
screws that are surrounding the border. There is
a handful in the middle as well and they are
    different types.
  • MacBook Pro keyboards are delicate devices making
it easy for dust, dirt, crumbs, and other
particles to cause problems with the mechanics of
the instrument. When these molecules get in, they
render the keys inoperable and need to be forced
out. Use a can of compressed air to blast out the
offending debris from under the keys.
