Tips and Tricks for Generating Great
Leads Following up on leads is much easier than
generating leads. Customer retention is much
easier than generating leads. If not, then every
business would be able to find new customers
among their competition. Use the following advice
to help you better generate leads so that you
can have a solid foundation to grow your
business. Incorporate social media into your
efforts to generate more leads, and you will be
more successful. Many people do all of their
browsing through social media sites these days,
so that's where your business needs to be. Cover
the major platforms with great offers
specifically targeted to your potential customers
and watch the leads come in! Open up your
business to the world. There are events such as
Doors Open at which businesses allow customers
to come in and see how they work. Even if you're
an architect or real estate agent, you can let
potential customers in to see how organized and
authentic you really are, which can generate
leads. Analyze the numbers surrounding your lead
generation. Are you finding it takes lots of
hours to discover potential leads? Are these
leads qualified or rather weak? Measure the time
you have in versus the conversion rate. This will
help you decipher which tactics give you the
best return on your investment. Target people
seeing freebies as part of your list generating
efforts. While giving things away doesn't
usually make money right away for you, there will
be plenty of people ready and willing to sign-up
for the free stuff. Keep this list separate from
your others, but include it in all your future
campaigns. Don't forget your website! Many people
create a site and then just leave it, believing
that "if you build it, they will come." They
won't unless you actually put some effort into
it. Create a blog and update it frequently, or
add new content as often as possible to the site
itself. Don't be afraid to cut certain tactics
that aren't performing as they should. Even if a
tactic is generating a ton of leads, it may be
that the leads just really aren't that strong.
If there's low to no conversion, why continue
spending in the channel? Rather double down on
tactics that are converting.
2
Create a local reciprocal referral database for
yourself and other local businesses. You can set
it up on Google Documents and ask people you know
to join it. If you know someone who needs dental
work you can refer them to a dentist on the list
and, if he knows someone who needs you he'll, do
the same. Can you work in webinars, seminars or
free tools and downloads for your business? If
you can provide this type of information related
to your niche, then people will sign up for
them. When they do, you have their contact
information as a new lead, and of course this is
a targeted, niche specific contact. Direct mail,
or what is fondly referred to as snail mail, is
still a viable option. Marketers are so focused
on cheap ways to market online that they're
ignoring direct mail. You will establish
yourself as a unique business if you utilize it.
Try it and see if direct mail works for
you. Remember that trending on social media isn't
the be-all and end-all of marketing. If you can
get any positive buzz at all about what you're
selling, you're generating leads. When using
social media, the content is king as long as you
present it in a way which doesn't sound like
spam. Develop strong call-to-actions in your
marketing. It doesn't matter if its traditional
advertising, email marketing or social media
advertising - you need a strong call- toaction
to generate leads. If you simply advertise your
name with no desired action, all you are doing
is brand building. You aren't at all developing
the opportunity for generating leads. Consider
creating websites for all the different niches of
potential leads you have. For example,
"NewlywedHomes.com" for a real estate agent
marketing to newlyweds, or "EmptyNestHomes.com"
for the same agent marketing to those whose kids
have flown the coop. Targeting your pages to your
leads will boost the number which convert. Never
oversell when building leads. If a prospect
thinks you are selling them too much, they'll
have an easier time saying no to you. People in
this world do not like overselling. It is
actually up to you to make your products look
solution-oriented. You must solve a problem
people or companies are having. Create landing
pages for each type of marketing campaign you
engage in. For example, have a page just for
those you target with direct mail - are they
local?
3
Then mention that on the page. Your email
newsletter won't be going to local people, but
they will be tech savvy, so focus on that. Your
site must be optimized when it comes to
generating leads. You need to get a contact
form, or at least a strong call to action, as one
of the first things that a potential customer
sees. Quickly, they must understand what you want
them to do, along with how to contact you. This
makes a massive difference in overall results. As
you consider who to exchange links with, think
about your local status. If you are a
landscaper, you have no interest in advertising
yourself in another area. As a result,
exchanging links with a landscaper who isn't
within your geographic area means you both get
SEO benefits and potential leads without
competing with each other. If your website is
not using responsive design, convert it as
quickly as possible. Mobile devices are quickly
becoming the screens of choice for lots of
people. If your website is not optimized for
mobile, then it'll be a poor experience. You
won't convert leads once they arrive. A
responsive design will have your website looking
great on all devices. Leads are definitely part
of the foundation of your business. You must
continuously be seeking new leads by pursuing
different strategies. The advice provided should
help you get started, and you're going to have to
make sure you maintain your focus. If you do
these things, the leads will come.
