Requirements for Certified Pharmacy Technician
License (7,595 licenses) 1) At least 18 years of
age 2) High school diploma or the equivalent of
a high school diploma 3) Complete a pharmacy
technician training program that meets the needs
of the individual pharmacy. Training program
defines specific tasks technician will perform
and includes a drug compounding training program
4) Pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification
Board (PTCB) examination or another
Board-approved pharmacy technician examination.
License Fees Initial - 46 Renewal (Biennially
by Nov. 1 of the year it expires) - 72 (two
years) Continuing Education 20 contact hours,
including 2 hours in pharmacy law, within the
biennial renewal period. Major Requirements for
Pharmacy Technician Trainee License (4,801
licenses) 1) At least 18 years of age 2) High
school diploma or the equivalent of a high school
diploma License Fees Initial (2 Years) 46
Renewal 36 (One-Time Renewal) . Note Pharmacy
Technician Trainee is expected to apply for
Pharmacy Technician license and complete required
training and pass examination as listed in items
