Test Structure
  • Ridged Timed Examination
  • Six Stations in Main Clinic
  • 5 minutes per station
  • There are 2 cases
  • Station 1,2 and 3 is one case
  • Station 4, 5 and 6 is another
  • Radiology Section in a Separate Building

Stations 14
  • You will start at one of these stations
  • Perform a focused history
  • Ask all appropriate questions
  • Pay attention You will need the information
    obtained for the next station

  • Perform a focused examination
  • There will be a standardized patient provided
  • Have all equipment necessary
  • One case focuses on musculoskeletal conditions
  • One case focuses on non-musculoskeletal conditions

  • Answer the questions based on the prior two
    stations
  • The questions are related to case management,
    follow-up and diagnosis

During the exam
  • You must listen and follow the examination timing
  • You will be asked to step out of rooms and move
    to the next station
  • You will be told when to move into the room
  • You can not move out of a room until you are told
    to do so

At the beginning of the exam
  • You will be placed if front of a station station
    1 or station 4
  • You move to the next station until all 6 stations
    are completed

After the 6 stations
  • You will go, as a group, to the building where
    the radiology section is being performed

  • Go to the review area
  • Review the exam
  • Fill out the evaluation form

  • History
  • Standard CC and PI
  • Create an image of a patient as you ask the
    standard questions
  • Know the parameters questions cold
  • Try to visualize what the patient experiences
    throughout the day

  • .Palpates the radial pulse on the flexor surface
    of the wrist laterally with the pads of the 2nd
    3rd fingers
  • Blood Pressure
  • .Places patients arm in a slightly flexed
    position
  • .Patients arm is free of clothing
  • .Deflated bladder centered over brachial artery
    2-3 cm above antecubital crease
  • .Applies appropriately sized cuff snugly and
    securely
  • .Places fingers of one hand over the brachial or
    radial artery to feel for pulse
  • .Rapidly inflates cuff with the hand bulb 20 - 30
    mm Hg above the point at which the brachial pulse
    disappears
  • .Deflates cuff slowly at a rate of 2 - 3 mm Hg /
    sec until at least 2 beats of brachial pulse is
    felt
  • .Immediately deflates the cuff completely
