online, allowing them plan for their retirement.

- Anita protects public health by improving the
quality of groundwater and surface water supplies.
5Annie TietemaDepartment of Employment and
Economic Development
- Annie evaluates the Dislocated Worker Program to
ensure that it is helping the unemployed regain
economic independence.
6Antonia Apolinario-WilcoxonDepartment of Human
Services
- Antonia protects the mental development of
pre-school children through her coordination of
the Great Start Minnesota Project which supports
childhood mental health screening.
7Bonita HarvieuxSecretary of States Office
- Bonita is making real estate transactions and
notarization of documents more efficient and
transparent for our citizens.
8Christine McVeyDepartment of Employment and
Economic Development
- Chris and her staff have worked in two counties
to help 385 people with disabilities find and
keep jobs in the past two and half years.
9Diane Henry-WangensteenMinnesota Legislature
- Because of Dianes efforts, the impact of
legislation on taxpayer dollars is carefully
measured to ensure responsible spending. Citizens
with disabilities also have full access to the
law-making process.
10Elizabeth RoeDepartment of Human Services
- Elizabeths work on the early childhood system
change is laying the infrastructure for the sound
investment of public and private funds across the
early childhood system in Minnesota.
11Emily JohnsonOffice of Higher Education
- Emily helps to make college possible for low
income students and those groups underrepresented
in higher education by supplying college and
career planning information, tutoring, and summer
camp opportunities.
12Jim JanecekDepartment of Human Services
- Jim and his team protect some of Minnesotas
most vulnerable populations by investigating
alleged maltreatment of children and vulnerable
adults who are receiving services from licensed
programs.
13Jim ZieglerPollution Control Agency
- As the Watershed Unit Supervisor for the
Northwest Region, Jim is responsible for
monitoring and improving the water quality of
lakes and streams in 21 Northwestern Minnesota
counties.

Development
- A customers comments Without Jay I couldn't
be where I am today. I was able to get my Class A
License, which has been a dream of mine since I
was a kid. I was also able to get the tools that
I needed to return to work as a mechanic. If it
was not for his hard work and services I don't
know what I would have done.

- With Jocelyns help, Minnesotans may no longer
have to go through the frustration of
transferring their medical records. Jocelyn is
helping to develop a public-private health
information exchange which will allow the flow of
private health information between stakeholders.
16Julie QuinnDepartment of Commerce
- Minnesotans who have ever used a gas station,
grocery store, or have shipped anything
commercially need to thank Julie. She tests
commercial weighing and measuring devices and
assists Minnesota citizens when devices do not
operate correctly.
17Julie ToskeyDepartment of Employment and
Economic Development
- Because of Julies contributions to the
Unemployment Insurance program, Minnesotas
unemployed workers get the support they need to
return to the workforce and regain financial
stability.
18Kristi GrunewaldDepartment of Human Services
- As a skilled facilitator and project manager,
Kristi helps users of Minnesotas subsidized
health care programs like Medicaid through her
work on the Medicaid Information Technology
Architecture (MITA).
19Kyle UphoffDepartment of Employment and Economic
Development
- Kyle provides consumers, local investment
boards, and businesses with economic analysis
that enables them to make sound decisions. Kyles
research helped bring 5 million into Minnesota
for job training and research in renewable
energy.
20Linda Davis-JohnsonDepartment of Human Services
- Lindas work is dedicated to Minnesota citizens
struggling to meet their basic needs. Linda is
guiding the development of cutting-edge
technology services that will drive the delivery
of Minnesotas health care and social services
network.
21Linda GlaserBoard of Animal Health
- Linda helps to keep Minnesotas milk safe for
consumers through her management of the bovine
tuberculosis program. Thanks to her efforts,
1,500 herds have been tested and those with the
disease have been removed from the population.
22Marianne BouskaIron Range Resources
- Marianne helps to preserve the history of
Minnesotas iron range and promote tourism in
Minnesotas northeastern counties in her work for
Iron Range Resources. Marianne is the agency
liaison to Ironworld, a museum about the history
of the iron range and mining.
23Mark SiegelDepartment of Human Services
- Mark helps people with serious mental health
issues who are not yet considered disabled, to
continue working and remain independent in our
communities through the Stay Well, Stay Working
project.
24Meg MoynihanDepartment of Agriculture
- Meg helps farmers diversify into organic farming
and build successful relationships with
processors, retailers, and consumers. Megs
customers expressed how they appreciate her
spirit of inclusion, sharing the glory of a
project not just the work.
25Michelle BashamDepartment of Human Services
- Michelle offers support and resources to the most
vulnerable among us. - In one project, she is addressing the inequities
encountered by minorities in Minnesotas health
care system. - In addition to her work at DHS, Michelle founded
a non-profit dedicated to assisting homeless
youth.
26Michelle FureDepartment of Public Safety
- Michelle makes Minnesota a safer place through
her work on CriMNet, a state program that works
with local agencies to make accurate and
comprehensive criminal justice information
available to law enforcement, the courts, and
corrections.
27Mohamed AhmedDepartment of Human Services
- Mohamed ensures that refugees from around the
world have stable housing, employment, and a safe
environment. Mohamed recently helped avert
eviction of 16 refugee families from their homes
in Mankato.
28Neal YoungDepartment of Employment and Economic
Development
- Neal was instrumental in encouraging Minnesota
businesses to expand through the JOBZ program,
which has created several hundred jobs for
Minnesotans. Businesses can now go online and
quickly estimate the benefits they would receive
under JOBZ.
29Paul CavalloOffice of Enterprise Technology
- At DHS, Paul improved the agency's ability to
respond to and communicate during emergencies.
Paul is currently providing effective information
management to government and its customers at OET.
30Todd BiewenPollution Control Agency
- Todd and his team are responsible for improving
and maintaining Minnesotas air quality. Todd
manages the Air Quality Index (AQI) program which
provides the public with round-the-clock
information about our air quality.
31Wende OBrienDepartment of Revenue
- Wende serves Minnesotans as a Taxpayer Advocate
and Affirmative Action Officer. Wende promotes
equity and consistency in the application of
Minnesota tax laws and upholds the Minnesota
Taxpayers Bill of Rights.
