5Introduction
- Metters GICH Team encountered some challenges
over this past six months. We had a difficult
time getting together for meetings, and then
members were hesitant in coming. However, we have
tried to turn things around in the past two
months. - We reviewed the Housing Study and discussed the
findings. One of our main goals will be to figure
out ways to assist those home-owners who have
houses in a state of disrepair.

- Promoted the City of Metter GICH Activities
- Expanded the membership of the GICH Team
- Other actions undertaken by the Metter GICH Team

8Low/Moderate Income Tax Credit Discussion
- Invited Paul Robertson of Vantage Development to
share with us the Low/Moderate Income Tax Credit
Program - Discussed how tight the market was from the
financial melt-down. - Paul predicted that the tax credit program would
go through some trying times.

- In 2007, the City had a developer who wanted to
construct affordable housing for seniors under
the HUD 202 Program - The Metter GICH Team wants to invite our
consultant/developer to reconsider Metter for a
new affordable housing development for seniors - Our existing senior housing developments are full
and there is a waiting list

that will meet the HUD 202 Program siting

property owner about selling the property

- Per our goal, we wanted the community to know
what we have been doing - Met with 2 civic groups to discuss what GICH and
our local goals to stimulate affordable housing

- Listed recruiting new members as part of our goal
at the Athens Retreat - Encountered problems getting some of our existing
team members to attend meetings. - Identified two potential members and sent letters
to them. Both agreed to serve, and that
gentleman is with us on today

21Educate Our Youth On Credit
- Requested Dr. Tom Bigwoods help in assessing the
School Systems efforts in training youth on
credit issues - Dr. Bigwood plan to check on the curriculum
22Explore CHIP Program
- Had team-member Cliff Hendrix to investigate if
CHIP funds would be of any help for the City of
Metter - Discovered that we are not in position to utilize
CHIP funding for housing
23Discussed Kingdom Builders
- Discussed renewing talks with Mr. Joey Fennel of
Kingdom Builders - Acknowledged that we may not be able to complete
a project this year, but we could work on putting
together a proposal for 2010
