The castle was built around 1300 (thats what
they think) by Seger fox chin van Swalmen, lord
of Swalmen. Initially it was a rectangular
building from about 25 and 17 meters with on the
Southern angle heavy towers also the
livingtowers. By its elongated achthoekige form
these donjon are unique in our country. Compared
with the livingtower L-vormige livingwing lay to
a small promenade. Initially the entrance was
there also. The walls of the castle were wide
1.50 meter thick and dressed with barge. By
freezing is large part of this disappeared. A
part of the south tower wall, the livingtower
with the beginning of a cellar roof and a vestige
of the stairwaytower is still there . The Swalm
have been gone conducted in former days for the
castle and formed therefore in fact the water
around the castle. Probably the castle has been
devastated by fire on the end of the 15e
centuries.
