Approx. 90 people are employed in the official
IT organisation. In addition there are some
groups and individuals working with more or less
pure IT delelopment and maintenance throughout
the organisation. As a total about 100 persons,
which is approximately 10 of all employees

Background
Over the past years, Statistics Norway has
carriedout a stepwise development from a typical
stove piped statistical production system,
towards a coherent statistical system, based upon
a top-down approach supporting an overall
business model and a coherent information
architecture. An overall systems architecture,
based on framework applications supporting
business processes will be implemented The
overall objective is to create a flexible, user
friendly and controllable statistical production
system.

Overall aim of SSBs metadata strategy

• To create a comprehensive metadata system that
  will contribute to an efficient production and
  dissemination of statistics, and at the same time
  improve the quality of the statistics.
• Metadata should be updated in one place and
