6
Selected Credits
  • Mobility for all
  • Energy Atmosphere
  • Materials Resources
  • Community impacts

7
Mobility for All
  • Credit 3 - Bicycle Lanes/Paths
  • Credit 4 - Bicycle Parking
  • Credit 5 - Bicycle Facility Design
  • To encourage cycling as an alternate mode of
transportation through the use of bike paths,
bike stands/lockers at highly traveled areas, and
design elements that improve the safety and ease
    of use of bicycles.

8
Energy Atmosphere
  • Credit 1 Infrastructure Energy Efficiency
  • The use of energy saving methods and materials
that can help reduce energy consumption by
    infrastructure items, i.e. Lighting systems,
    Pumping stations, etc.
  • Credit 2 Volatile Organic Compounds
  • This credit address the VOCs that are released
into the atmosphere or into the ground during the
road construction process, i.e. Asphalt Cement,
    Painting/Striping, etc.
  • Credit 3 Local Materials
  • This credit tries to promote the use of local
materials and services that are in the vicinity
of the job site. This would cut down on the use
of energy for transporting the materials, as well
as emissions that are discharged from
    transporting the materials and services.

9
Materials and Resources
  • Prerequisite 1 Lifecycle Costing
  • Encourage use of lifecycle costing to select
    products and methodologies
  • Prerequisite 2 Construction Activity
    Pollution Prevention
  • Reduce pollution from construction activity
    through the use of BMPs
  • Credit 2 Construction Waste Management
  • Divert construction debris from landfill and
redirect recyclable resources to appropriate sites

10
Materials and Resources
  • Credit 3 Recycled Content
  • Use recycled materials to reduce the
environmental impact of extraction and processing
    of virgin materials
  • Credit 4 Long Life Pavements
  • Design of pavement structures to perform 35 years
    with minimal restoration
  • Credit 5 Stormwater Management
  • Reduce pollution and hydrological instability
from stormwater, prevent flooding and promote
    aquifer recharge

11
Community Impacts
  • Credit 1 Noise
  • Encourage reduction of noise levels associated
    with motorized traffic
  • Credit 2 Light Pollution
  • To minimize light trespass from projects,
increase night sky access, improve nighttime
visibility, and reduce impact on nocturnal
    environments.
  • Credit 3 Visual Elements
  • Encourage corridors that are architecturally
compatible with their surroundings and improve
the experience of traveling through them.
