On-Line Assessment for two Undergraduate Modules
at the School of Law
Introduction The use of Computer Assisted
Assessment (CAA) can provide the student with
immediate feedback as well as significantly
reduce marking time for the lecturer. However, to
produce challenging questions can be very time
consuming. Is it possible that students could
produce CAA questions to help in this process
while in turn aid their learning?
- Aims of the Project
- To produce online question banks with answers and
feedback through a series of workshops with
the assistance of student volunteers - To share the learning experiences from this
exercise across the School of Law and wider as
appropriate
- Potential benefits to students
- Efficient production of large numbers of computer
based assessments with immediate feedback - Volunteer students have a one-off opportunity for
- active learning
- experience of group projects and
problem-solving
A question bank from assessment section of QOL
Current status Student volunteers have drafted
questions and supporting materials. Some editing
and piloting of materials is now required,
including particularly refinement of the scoring
system. It is expected that the question banks
will be operational on a test basis for next
academic year.
