• Function
• 1 Protects the cell from environment
• 2 controls what comes in and out of the cell
  (oxygen, food, carbon dioxide, minerals)

• Structure rigid layer of nonliving material
  (called cellulose) / Outer Layer of Cell
• Function
• 1 protects cell
• 2 gives support

Nucleus

• Structure large, oval structure in center of
  cell, contains genetic information (chromosomes)
• Function control center of cell, brain of
  cell that directs all the cells activities

Cytoplasm

• Structure gelatin-like fluid, broth of the cell
  that holds everything together
• Function all activities and structures are held
  within the cytoplasm

Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)

• Structure network of passageways around the
  nucleus
• Function carry proteins and other materials
  from one part of the cell to another

Ribosomes

• Structure attached to the outer surface of the
  ER, floating in cytoplasm
• Function act as factories that produce proteins
  and send them to the Golgi Bodies

Golgi Body

• Structure Flattened sacs and tubes (look like
  pancakes)
• Function receive proteins and other materials
  and send them throughout the cell
• (like mailroom packaging center)

• Structure large green structures containing the
  pigment chlorophyll
• Function captures Energy from the Sun to make
  Food
• (Photosynthesis)
