/list.php?f7The Diversity Working Group (DWG)
is chartered to assist the ESSE 21 community in
defining and implementing a strategy to stimulate
interests of under represented groups in STEM
careers and recommend ways in which Earth system
science can be extended to more diverse groups.
Representatives from minority serving
institutions (MSIs) will provide specific
guidance based on their experiences. The DWG
will Identify unique needs of minority
serving institutions with respect to ESS
education- Historically black colleges and
universities- Hispanic serving institutions-
Tribal colleges and universities- Other minority
institutions Recommend ways to assist MSIs to
focus on the integration of STEM into ESS
courses, and where possible, attract new MSIs
into ESSE 21 Identify categories of students
with disabilities underrepresented in ESS and
STEM careers (e.g. vision, hearing and mobility
impaired, understand their needs, and recommend
solutions that extend ESS knowledge more
broadly Recommend ways to adapt courses for
students with disabilities using assistive
technologies
