Artist Statement

Artist Statement Destinee Dedolph I
have analyzed important contemporary artist,
such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. This
made me realize how to recreate their pop art
technique by using benday dots, but in my own
style. I created a print of a dartboard,
because it consisted of numerous circles like
the benday dot pattern. Decided to make the
dartboard legal playing size so that it would
have a dual function, aesthetic and
entertainment. While I printed in this style, it
made me think of many ideas that extended off
this concept. Expanded my ideas by using other
shapes and/or patterns in the same printing
process. The subject matter in my prints is
inspirations from my surrounding and experiences.
This prepared me for a common theme for my
senior show. Aesthetic and functional print
making show. I hope the viewer of my senior
exhibition will get involved emotionally and
physical with my artwork. My creative mind never
stops, only takes a vacation every once in
awhile. But I cant wait to create my
installation piece that will become functional
only if the viewers get involved. I had (and
have) fun in the creation process, so I hope you
will enjoy the outcome.
