Assessment

• Mizoram University assessed the Implementation of
  the Programme in four Districts during the last
  year 2007-08.
• The Districts are-
• Kolasib
• Mamit
• Serchhip and
• Lunglei.
• Research and Consultancy Cell, Aizawl North
  College also organised a study on the impact of
  Mid-Day Meal on Primary Schools under Chanmari
  and Thingsulthliah Education Circles covering 60
  Schools.

Problems

• Inadequate Allocation of Foodgrains during
  2007-08.
• The State had served 99,963 students (as on
  30.9.2007) against the PAB approved 93,192 which
  results shortage of foodgrains received.

Problems

• Inadequate provision of Hill Transport Subsidy
• Mizoram being a hilly terrain, a provision of Rs
  125/- per quintal as Hill Transport Subsidy could
  not meet the necessary amount for transportation
  charge in most schools.

• Late release of Foodgrains allocated for
  
• EBBs
• Due to the late release of Foodgrains for EBB of
  Lungsen, the School Authority had to advanced the
  Foodgrains from the Retailer as well as Local
  Merchants.

Other Problems

• Kitchen Shed
• Kitchen Shed were constructed in the previous
  years from the PMGY funds as well as SGRY scheme.
  But these are in dilapidated conditions and
  require new construction.
