More power is better-- the success of bone marrow
transplants is determined by the number and
competitive power of stem cells transplanted.
Mouse bone marrow transplant
Mouse blood and immune- system stem cells treated
with a stem cell expansion factor (green-treated
red-untreated).
Treated super stem cells give rise to all cells
of the blood and immune system. Untreated cells
die out.

Expansion and implantation of blood and
immune-system stem cells
Application- expanding stem cells in culture and
differentiating human blood and immune cells in
sheep. The sheep serves as a model for bone
marrow transplant into a large mammal such as a
human and a potential bio-reactor, producing
tailor-made cells from adult stem cells to be
transplanted back into people suffering from such
diseases as AIDS or cancer.
Human blood and immune-system stem cells treated
with a stem cell expansion factor and implanted
into fetal sheep, which wont reject the graft.
A mixture of sheep and human blood and
immune-system cells.
