• Sound is produced when matter vibrates
• Anything that vibrates produces sound
• Without air there would be no sound
• Sound vibrates the particles of air, hence the
  above statement.

• When we speak (vocal cords vibrate)
• When we listen to the radio (speaker vibrates)
• Tuning Forks ( Vibrates producing waves)
• Instruments (Vibrations produce sound)

Speed of sound

• The speed of sound is determined by the
  temperature, elasticity, and density of the
  medium through which the sound travels.
• Sound travels better through solids rather than
  liquids
• Solids vibrate easier than liquids and gases
