• do not cease giving thanks for you, while making
  mention of you in my prayers

I know your deeds, your hard work and your
perseverance. I know that you cannot
tolerate wicked men, that you have tested
those who claim to be apostles but are not,
and have found them false. 3You have
persevered and have endured hardships for my
name, and have not grown weary. Yet I hold
this against you You have forsaken your
first love. 5Remember the height from which you
have fallen! Repent and do the things you did

2. Paul prays for their ENLIGHTENMENT.  that
the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of
revelation in the knowledge of Him. vs.
17   I pray that the eyes of your heart may be
enlightened vs. 18

 "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT
HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF
MAN,ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE
HIM.  10For to us God revealed them through the
Spirit for the Spirit searches all things, even
the depths of God.  11For who among men knows
the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the
man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God
no one knows except the Spirit of God.  12Now
we have received, not the spirit of the world,
but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may
know the things freely given to us by God.

2. Paul prays for their ENLIGHTENMENT.  that
the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of

lovingkindness in the morning for I trust in

• so that you will know what is the hope of His
  calling,
• what are the riches of the glory of His
  inheritance in the saints.

B. Enlightened about Gods POWER. and
what is the surpassing greatness of His power
(dunamis) toward us who believe. These are in
accordance with the working (energeia) of the
strength of His might  20which He brought about
in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and
seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly
places vs. 19,20

C. Enlightened about Gods POSITION. far above
all rule and authority and power and dominion,
and every name that is named, not only in this
age but also in the one to come.   And He put
all things in subjection under His feet, and
gave Him as Head over all things to the church,
which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills
all in all. vs. 21-23
