Františky Plamínkové primary school

HISTORY
Our school was built in 1886 as a school for
girls. The winter holidays lasted 4 months,
because there was not enough coal. The girls
learned German in our school.

Františka Plamínková was a writer, a teacher and
an important Czech feminist. She was born in
Kostelsko in 1875. After the graduation in 1895
she taught in Prague at our school. In 1925 she
was elected a senator. In our parliament she
fought for womans rights and she pushed through
a law that enabled woman teachers to marry and
have children. In 1942 she was arrested and
executed by the Nazis.

POSTWAR ALTERATIONS
The girls' school yoked together with a Secondary
school. The number of children redoubled. In 1956
was organized the first exchange with a school
abroad. Then children learned English, Russian,
French or German. In 1989 took place a camp with
language education. In 1990 Anna Hurychová
became the director.

THE SCHOOL DIRECTOR

• Our directors name is Jindrich Koudela. This
  photo was taken at the garden party in 2006 at
  the occasion of the 120. anniversary of our
  school. But in this year he wasnt the director,
  yet. He became the director in 2007.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

• Jindrich Koudela is married, and he has got two
  children, two little boys. He teaches Maths,
  formely he taught Chemistry and IT. Last year he
  was just a teacher, but this year, he became the
  director. To become the director, he had to take
  part in a schooling. And then he had to win the
  competition. Jindrich Koudela likes his work, but
  the work of a director is different from the
  work of a teacher. Last year was the director
  Mrs. Anna Hurychová.

• This is the first gym. It is on the ground floor.
  It is better and newer than the other gym. There
  are four baskets for basketball and lots of
  sports articles. There are a dressing room and
  showers.

• This is the second gym. It is in the basement. It
  has got two halls. There are three tables for
  table tennis. There are two dressing rooms, too.
  Some children dont like this gym, because it
  isnt good. Most children prefer to play sport
  outside in the school yard or in the gym on the
  ground floor.

• In our school we have one music lesson per week.
  We read about famous composers, listen to, sing
  and play songs classical as well as contemporary
  and we watch musicals too. We also have a music
  classroom, it is in the basement, and there are
  some CDs and books
• Our music lessons are amusive. We like them

School Activities

• Our school organizes lots of activities for
  students. The most popular are school in nature
  and ski camp. Other activities include school
  trips,  cinema or museum visits.These are
  popular, too.

School in nature 2007

• We love holidays and days  when we dont have to
  go to school. Surprisingly! This year (2007) we
  were in school in nature in May and it was a big
  fun! We played sport games, went for trips and
  made parties. It was really exciting. We enjoyed
  it a lot and we hope that next year (2008) will
  be as great as this.

Bike trip

• One day we went for a bike trip in Stromovka(the
  biggest park in Prague) with Mr.Hula (our
  computer teacher) and Mrs.Macecková (our class
  teacher). The weather  was great, but some of us
  had an accident. For example Martin crashed into
  a car, Blanka lost her bike, Mr.Hula fell off his
  bike and I crashed into a tree. But everything
  finished great!!

A ski camp

• Two years ago we were at a skiing camp in
  hotel Vápenka in Krkonoše.

There was beautiful nature and good skiing and
snowboarding.

Cinema

• On monday, August 12th, we were at the cinema.We
  had a lot of fun !!Do you know the film
  Rattatouille??It was little bit stupid but
  everything is better than studyingD

Christmas and Easter markets

• Every year before Christmas and Easter times our
  school organizes Christmas and Easter markets.
  Each classroom prepares their own products for
  example advent wreaths, some kinds of
  candleholders, we decorate Easter eggs, Easter
  and Christmas cards and these products are sold
  at each classrooms stall. These markets are open
  for public. The profit we earned is used for
  charitable purposes.

GERMAN AND FRENCH

• In our school everyone learns English and one
  more facultative language. Its German or French.
  We started with the second foreign language in
  the sixth class.

GERMAN

• We  have a special classroom for German. We
  have lots of posters with grammar in it and a map
  of Germany. Our teacher's name is Lenka
  Šimánková. We sometimes revise grammar on
  computers. Then we always write a test.

FRENCH

• This is our French classroom. There are two rows
  of tables, a drawing of the Eiffel Tower at the
  back on the wall and vocabulary. Our French
  teacher is Mrs. Šulcová. Children learn it from
  6. class. Sometimes children watch French films
  or write some French tests on the computer.
  Sometimes we go to the French library .

• We often revise the grammar and vocabulary and
  then we write tests. We get a sheet of paper with
  pictures and we write the words next to the
  pictures. Sometimes teaches a trainee teacher.
  Our teacher also organizes a competition called
  the Olympiad. Children write some tests and they
  speak French. They can get some prizes and they
  can go forward to the next round.

Our class
We are in classroom 9.B. There are 8 boys and 16
girls in the class. In the classroom you can see
some chairs and desks, a blackboard, three big
windows, a notice board, a wardrobe, some boxes,
flowers and a computer. Everyone owns two boxes.
We can put books and exercise books into the box
in the classroom and clothes and shoes into the
box in the corridor. I think it is great, because
in almost all other schools pupils do not have
any box and they put heir clothes off in a
dressing room. Lessons start at 8 oclock and
finish at half past one.
