Why do we need Curriculum Representatives?

• To provide timely information about
• - curriculum
• new initiatives
• resources
• To gather teacher input
• To identify school needs
• To build professional learning
• To honour teacher leadership
• To develop learning communities in schools

Who are the Curriculum Representatives?
A school team consists of

• A teacher from PreK- Grade 3
• A teacher from Grades 4-8
• The Teacher-Librarian
• The Principal

What do Curriculum Representatives do?

• Attend meetings as requested
• Work collaboratively as a team
• Network
• Voice input/feedback from staff
• Participate in the development of a professional
  learning community

What do Teacher Curriculum Representatives do?

• Learn about CSS initiatives and projects
• Gather and share ideas
• Maintain binder
• Develop professional knowledge
• Act as teacher leaders in schools

What do Teacher-Librarians do?

• Facilitate communication with staff
• Make material available, central and known
• Support Teacher Representatives in sharing of
  ideas and share leadership
• Build community of learners in schools

What do Principals do?

• Support implementation in schools
• Encourage representatives to attend meetings
• Provide opportunities at staff meetings for
  reports
• Arrange in-school time for school teams and/or
  grade-group meetings
• Provide moral support and encouragement
• Integrate the Curriculum Representative
  initiative into school improvement

When do Curriculum Representatives meet?

• Four meeting dates coordinated with monthly staff
  meetings
