THE GIFT OF WATER PROJECT

• In developing countries like HAITI, four-fifths
  of all the illnesses are caused by water-borne
  diseases, with diarrhea being the leading cause
  of childhood death, many medical sources say.
• Gift of Water helps develop the community and
  uses simple, effective technologies to implement
  clean water programs in impoverished
  communities.

• Gift of Water is a Christian-based organization,
  and we believe that our work to bring clean
  drinking water to children and families is our
  response to Gods love for us. 
• The purification process is quite simple and
  similar to most public systems used in the United
  States today
• The Purifier is composed to two 5 gallon buckets
  that detach. The top bucket is filled (often
  through a coarse cloth filter an a disinfectant
  is added usually chlorine tablets)

• The bucket sits for at least 30 minutes, giving
  ample contact time to kill bacteria and most
  common parasites
• It is then placed in position on top of the
  second bucket and allowed to drain through
• A small amount of disinfectant (also a tablet) is
  also placed in the second bucket to prevent
  bacterial regrowth
• The purifier contains two filters one for
  sediment and one for removal of chemicals and
  disinfectant by-products
