12
Analysis of development alternatives
Development of electricity consumption in Slovakia
An average annual growth in electricit
consumption is predicted within the range between
0.8 to 2.3 , until 2030. In a reference scenario
with the average annual growth of 1.6.
13
Analysis of development alternatives
Development of GNP, final electricity
consumption, and specific consumption (year
20061.0)
The growth of economy with decreasing specific
consumption is predicted, which corresponds with
priorities of SR and EU energy policies

On a basis of the Slovak Republic Government
Resolution no. 801/1999 and Treaty of accession
to EU, in which Slovakia committed itself to shut
down the V1 units of NPP Jaslovské Bohunice, the
1st unit of NPP V1 removed from operation as of
31 December 2006. During 28 years of its
operation the unit produced 76.7 TWh of
electricity.

Requirements to cover the deficit in the ES SR
production
Until 2030, 3 855 MW of the current rated
capacity in the SR is to be removed. For a
equalized balance between the consumption and the
production, it shall be necessary to ensure,
during this period, new electrical industry
capacity providing for annual production at the
level of 29 TWh.

18
Analysis of development alternatives
Projection of new power output facilities
An achievement of an equalized balance between
electricity consumption and production shall be
feasible when to following electrical industry
capacities are realized
19
Analysis of development alternatives
Projection of the share of new source type
facilities until 2030
Investment costs of renewable sources for
electricity production are rather high. It
represents nearly a half of all the capital
expenditure for new capacities, when the power
output obtained only reaches slightly over one
third, and the electricity production does not
even reach one fifth, of the quantity that shall
be ensured until 2030.
20
Analysis of development alternatives
Share of investment demands for ES development
with an equalized balance of electricity
consumption and production until 2030
The development of the Slovak electricity system,
including both transmission and distribution
system, shall require over Sk 560 bill. until the
year 2030.

Suport services for the existing sources in the SR
Provision of sources for particular types of ES
support services in 2011
22
Suport services for the existing sources in the SR
The course of existing source availability for
particular types of support services, reflecting
their gradual removal from operation
Creating conditions for operation of an adequate
range of production technologies capable of
ensuring requirements for support services.
Concurrently, supporting development of tools for
an enhancement of opportunities to importi
particular types of support services.

development projects
26
Priorities of electricity supply safety strategy
  • Risk factors
  • Unequalled balance between consumption and
    sources of their supply
  • Lack of support services
  • Uncontrolled construction of wind power stations
  • Obstacles in international profiles and foreign
  • transmission routes

27
Priorities of electricity supply safety strategy
  • Long-term development of electrical energy
industry to be directed in order
  • to ensure clean, competitive, and
    permanently sustainable energy
  • Maintain the current optimal structure of the
    production base, with equalized
  • distribution of power output among nuclear
    power plants, thermal power plants,
  • and RES including hydro power stations with
    large power output
  • The strategic target for the development until
2013 is focused on a substitution of removed
power output sources by construction of domestic
sources, with a concurrent adoption of the
    following measures
  • - savings in electricity consumption
  • - construction completion of 3rd and 4th
    unit in NPP Mochovce
  • - power output increase in NPP V2
    Bohunice and
  • NPP Mochovce 1,2
  • - realization of electricity sources in
    accordance with the programme
  • of renewable energy sources
  • - gradual realization of cogeneration and
    heat power capacity

28
Priorities of electricity supply safety strategy
  • Until 2030, to ensure approximately 6 600 MW of
    new production facilities
  • Create conditions for an enlargement of
    capacities for international electricity
    exchange.
  • As a priority, to ensure new international
    interconnections across the south border
  • Ensuring the development of Slovakia 400 kV
    electricity transmission system,
  • so that the system meets UCTE criteria of
    reliability and quality
  • Complete the subtitution of 220 kV transmission
    system by 400 kV system
  • Ensure the remote controlling of transmission
    system electrical stations
  • Requirements for investments in the electrical
    energy industry until 2030
  • are estimated to exceed Sk 560 bill.
  • The SR legislation harmonization with Directive
    no. 2005/89/ES concerning measures
  • to safeguard security of electricity supply
    and infrastructure investments
  • To implement a stable regulatory framework
