Terminology
  • IDP is a web-based interface that enables you
    to view and organize content created in WRS.
  • Portal Page is a method of organizing
    information in the portal. You can create, add,
    edit, rearrange, and remove portlets on a page.

  • Portlet is a rectangular display component of
    the portal in which content and links to content
    are displayed.
  • Collection Portlet Contains a list of portal
    content items.
  • URL Portlet accesses a specific URL and
    displays the returned information inside the
    portlets borders.

  • New pages are created at the LEA Coordinator user
    level.
  • Only the user that created the page can view,
    edit, or remove the page.

  • Name displays on pages tab in navigation bar.
  • Description displays with page title when you
    search for items.
  • Keywords terms that you can use to search for
    the page.
  • Page Rank a number that dictates how important
    this page is in comparison to other pages.

  • (Required) Enter the name for the page.
  • (Optional) Enter a description, one or more
    keywords, and a page rank value.
  • Click Add.
  • Click Done. The main portal page appears with the
    new page added as a tab.

  • Users can search for existing pages to add.
  • Can preview the page before adding.

  • Searches name, description, and keywords for the
    item.
  • Enter text or use as a wildcard.
  • Enter a string of text returns items that
    contain one or more of the words.
  • Enter a string of text surrounded by quotation
    marks returns items that contain exactly that
    phrase.
  • Wildcard - cannot be used within text string,
    just enables you to search for all content.

  • Navigate to the search screen Option gt Add gt
    Search tab
  • Specify the keyword(s) to use for the search.
  • (Optional) Specify the number of result records
    to return per page.
  • Click Search.
  • Select the page to add and click Add.

  • Click Add Portlets.
  • Specify the Portlet Type.
  • (Optional) Type the Keywords and Description.
  • Click Add.
  • Confirm the Portlet was successfully added

  • Add a new Portlet to the portal page you created

  • Specify the Portlet type as a Collection Portlet.
  • Type Reports as the name.

    Training page.

Adding Content to Collection Portlets
  • The items that can be added to a Collection
    Portlet can be of any type or combination of
    types.
  • Dependent upon the content type, the portal will
    either display the item or launch a new
    application in your browser window.
  • Click the refresh collection link to update the
    list in the portlet.
  • User has the ability of adding or removing
    content items, rearranging the list of items.

  • Choose the Portlet and click the Edit Content
    icon.
  • Specify if the Description and/or Location should
    be shown.
  • Click Add Items and choose the Create tab.
  • Click the radio button to specify the item type.
  • Type the Name and URL.
  • Type the Description and Keywords.
  • Click Add
  • Multiple items can be added before proceeding to
    the next step.
  • Click Done.
  • Items will display in the Items box.
  • Click OK.

  • Click the radio button next to Link. Type your
    LEAs name.
  • Type the correct URL for your school district. It
    has to be exactly like it appears on the
    Internet.
  • Type a brief Description two Keywords.

  • Choose the Portlet and click the Edit Content
    icon.
  • Specify if the Description and/or Location should
    be shown.
  • Click Add Items and choose the Search tab.
  • Type the search criteria in the Keywords text
    field.
  • The is the wildcard search text. It will return
    all available content items.
  • Click the check box next to the Content type or
    types.
  • Clicking the check box next to Content Types will
    select all. Multiple boxes can be checked.
  • Choose the number of Results per page.
  • Click Search
  • Choose the Content item to be added.
  • Multiple items can be added by placing a check
    in the check box next to the content item.
  • Click Add and Done when finished making your
    choices.
  • Items will display in the Items box.
  • Click OK.

  • Search for Daily Attendance Report in the SAS
    report content type.
  • Choose this report and add it to the portlet.

  • There are five standard reports available within
    Information Delivery Portal
  • Class Enrollment Report
  • NCLB Report
  • TIMS Report
  • YTD Attendance Report

  • Created and maintained at the State level.
  • Accessed as stored processes.
  • Must be added to a content portlet on a page in
    your portal view.
  • Report output is published to the report users
    personal repository.
  • E-mail notification when report is ready.
  • Must add the Results Navigator Portlet to your
    portal view to view the results of the report.

  • Five steps to using the standard reports
  • Locate the report.
  • Add the report to your Portal view.
  • Add the Results Navigator Portlet to your Portal
    view to enable you to see the results when you
    run a report.

  • In your Portal view, click the name of the report
    and specify the required and/or optional
    parameters for the report.
  • Click Run Report. When the results are available,
    you will receive a notification email at the
    email address that you specify in the parameters.
    View the results of the report.

  • Add the portlet to your Portal Page.
  • Search for the results navigator portlet.
  • Add the portlet to your Portal Page.
  • Click the name of the Standard Report you wish to
    run.
  • Read the notification you receive for the results
    of the report.
  • Look in the Results Navigator Portlet for the
    report results.

  • Allows you to export table data as a Microsoft
    Excel file or as a tab-delimited text file.

    icon on the Table toolbar.
  • Hold down the Control-key (Ctrl)
  • Choose the format of the report click OK.

  • The report can then be saved for future purposes.
