Sodasorb HP 4-8 Mesh is the smart choice for
It's versatile to satisfy a range of applications.
Its specific formulation meets the high demands
of recreational and military submarine
environments.
Sodasorb 4-8 is designed specifically for
undersea applicationsThe 4-8 mesh grade is
specially formulated with the right ingredients,
moisture content, surface area, and density to
support a multitude of undersea
applications. Sodasorb is safe and simple to
useIts high-contrast colour change lets you know
when its time to change. Sodasorb is also
available without indicator, if desired. For
best results, please refer to your breathing
system manufacturer for direction on which mesh
grade of Sodasorb HP is required for your unit
and application.

Sodasorb HP 6-12 Mesh is the smart choice for
Its mesh grade ensures easy breathing during
longer dives
Sodasorb HP 6 - 12 is highly efficient Its
long-lasting formulation removes CO2 for hours to
support activities of longer duration and at
greater depths.
Sodasorb HP 6-12 is designed specifically for
undersea applicationsThe 6 12 mesh grade is
specially formulated with the right ingredients,
moisture content, surface area, and density to
ensure comfortable breathing in deep water
applications. Sodasorb HP is simple and safe to
useTo ensure safety, Sodasorb HPs high-contrast
colour change lets you know when its time to
change your absorbent. For best results,
please refer to your breathing system
manufacturer for direction on which mesh grade of
Sodasorb HP is required for your unit and
application.

  • THE COMPOSITION
  • Grace SODASORB is a granulated compound
    consisting primarily of
  • hydrated lime (Calcium Hydroxide) (Ca(OH)2 )
  • blended with small amounts of sodium Hydroxide
    (NaOH)
  • Since January 2000, SODASORB doesnt contain KOH
    (Potassium Hydroxide)
  • SODASORB also contains water (H2O) and a
fractional content of an exhaustion indicator
    (acid-base ethyl indicator).
  • above 80 Ca(OH)2 below 4 NaOH
    12 to 19, avg 16
  • THE CARBON DIOXIDE ABSORPTION PROCESS A
    CHEMICAL PROCESS
  • the CO 2 first reacts with water to form carbonic
    acid
  • subsequently reacting with the hydroxides to form
soluble salts of sodium carbonate (at the same
    time generating water)
  • these soluble salts then further react with the
calcium hydroxide to form insoluble calcium
    carbonate
  • By-products of these reactions include heat and
    water.
  • Optimum absorption occurs when moisture content
    is between 12 and 19.

SODASORB used to help rescue seven sailors aboard
a mini-submarine snagged on the Pacific floor
(August 2005)
Diving suits headed for snagged Russian sub
The diver who goes down to the sub will be
attached to the surface crew by "umbilicals
providing audio and video communication. Besides
oxygen, he will carry a chemical product called
Sodasorb, .. which absorbs carbon dioxide,
which builds up in the sub each time an occupant
exhales.
