Title: Finding Peace with God'

1
Finding Peace with God.
2
The Search for Peace.
  • There is emptiness in life for those who do not
    have peace with God.
  • No peace with God is a miserable life with a
    horrible outcome.
  • Peace with God should be our number one concern
    in view of Eternity!

3
There is No Peace, says my God, for the Wicked
(Isaiah 5721).
  • Who are the wicked? (cf. Rom. 323)
  • Wicked (Heb. RASHA)
a guilty one, one guilty of crime (substantive)
wicked (hostile to God) wicked, guilty of sin
(against God or man). - BDB Hebrew Lexicon
  • Instead of peace, there is a troubled life for
    the wicked.

4
God offers forgiveness and healing for sinners
resulting in true peace with Him.
  • Isaiah 5717-19 (NKJV)
17 For the iniquity of his covetousness I was
angry and struck him I hid and was angry, and he
went on backsliding in the way of his heart. 18 I
have seen his ways, and will heal him I will
also lead him, and restore comforts to him and to
    his mourners

5
Isaiah 5719 (NKJV)
  • I create the fruit of the lips Peace, peace to
him who is far off and to him who is near, Says
the LORD, And I will heal him. - cf. Eph. 217

6
  • Yet until the wicked turn to God and receive
the pardon for their sins, they remain in a
    deplorable condition.

7
Isaiah 5720-21 (NKJV)
  • 20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea,
when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire
and dirt. 21 There is no peace, Says my
God, for the wicked. cf. Prov. 416
    Jude 13

8
Why is there No Peace
for the Wicked?
  • A life of sin is separation from God.
  • Every person is created to seek and find God
(Acts 1727) we are meant to have a meaningful
    relationship with God!
  • Yet sin stands in the way of that relationship.

9
Isaiah 591-2 (NASB)
  • 1 Behold, the Lord's hand is not so short that
it cannot save Neither is His ear so dull that
it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have made a
separation between you and your God, and your
sins have hidden His face from you, so that He
does not hear. - cf. Isa. 646-7 63-7

10
  • There is no true peace or
    rest for those who are
    separated from God! (Micah
    34 Prov. 1529 Isaiah 115
    2 Thes. 19).

11
Micah 34 (NASB)
  • Then they will cry out to the LORD, but He will
not answer them. Instead, He will hide His face
from them at that time, because they have
    practiced evil deeds.

12
2 Thessalonians 19 (NASB)
  • And these will pay the penalty of eternal
destruction, away from the presence of the Lord
and from the glory of His power.

13
Why is there No Peace
for the Wicked?
  • A life of sin is separation from God.
  • Sin or worldly pleasures cannot fill this void of
    peace.

14
  • What society foolishly
    calls spiritual (e.g., sensuality,
    immorality, drunkenness, gluttony)
    is alienation from God!

15
Ephesians 418-19 (NASB)
  • 18 being darkened in their understanding,
excluded from the life of God, because of the
ignorance that is in them, because of the
hardness of their heart 19 and they, having
become callous, have given themselves over to
sensuality, for the practice of every kind of
    impurity with greediness.

16
  • Pleasures of this world do not bring lasting
happiness and certainly not true peace (Heb.
    1124-26).

17
  • Neither can any amount of riches bring peace to a
soul that is unprepared to meet God
    (Luke 1215-21).

18
Luke 1219-21 (NASB)
  • 19'And I will say to my soul,
"Soul, you have many goods laid up for many
years to come take your ease, eat, drink and be
merry."' 20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This
very night your soul is required of you and now
who will own what you have prepared?' 21 "So is
the man who lays up treasure for himself, and is
    not rich toward God."

19
  • Peace with God cannot be
found by living life as we please!

20
Why is there No Peace
for the Wicked?
  • A life of sin is separation from God.
  • Sin or worldly pleasures cannot fill this void of
    peace.
  • Sometimes the conscience is deeply troubled.

21
The only way to clean the conscience is to get
right with God!
  • Hebrews 1021-22 (NASB)
21 and since we have a great priest (Jesus) over
the house of God, 22 let us draw
near with a sincere heart in full assurance of
faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an
evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure
    water.

22
Why is there No Peace
for the Wicked?
  • A life of sin is separation from God.
  • Sin or worldly pleasures cannot fill this void of
    peace.
  • Sometimes the conscience is deeply troubled.
  • They do not possess a living hope beyond the
    grave.

23
  • The deathbed is not a place of peace and joy with
the anticipation to be with God, but alarm,
    dread, and despair.

24
Isaiah 311 (NASB)
  • Woe to the wicked! It will go badly with him,
for what he deserves will be done to him.

25
Hebrews 927 (NASB)
  • And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die
once and after this comes judgment.

26
  • Faith in Christ can turn our grief about death
into joy because of the living hope in Heaven He
    provides! (1 Thes. 413-14 cf. 1 Pet. 13-4)

27
How Do We Find Peace
with God?
  • Peace is found in Jesus the Savior.
  • Not worldly fortune, fame, pleasure
  • Not in human relationships
  • Not in nature
  • Not in any other religion

28
John 1427 (NASB)
  • "Peace I leave with you My peace I give to you
not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not
your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

29
How Do We Find Peace
with God?
  • Peace is found in Jesus the Savior.
  • Peace is achieved by His blood.

30
Ephesians 212-13 (NASB)
  • 12 Remember that you were at that time separate
from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of
Israel, and strangers to the covenants of
promise, having no hope and without God in the
world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who
formerly were far off have been brought near by
    the blood of Christ.

31
Ephesians 217-18 (NASB)
  • 17 And He came and preached peace to you who
were far away, and peace to those who were near
18 for through Him we both have our access in one
Spirit to the Father. - cf. Isa. 5719

32
  • No amount of good works could achieve peace
    with God or earn back
Gods favor so we could be
    reconciled to Him (Eph. 28-9
    Tit. 35-7 2 Tim. 19).

33
Colossians 119-20 (NASB)
  • 19 For it was the Father's good pleasure for all
the fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him
to reconcile all things to Himself, having made
peace through the blood of His cross through
Him, I say, whether things on earth or things
    in heaven.

34
How Do We Find Peace
with God?
  • Peace is found in Jesus the Savior.
  • Peace is achieved by His blood.
  • Peace is given by our faith in Jesus.

35
Romans 51 (NASB)
  • Therefore having been justified by faith, we
have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
    Christ.

36
No longer His enemies! Justified!
Saved! Reconciled!
  • Romans 58-9 (NASB)
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward
us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been
justified by His blood, we shall be saved from
the wrath of God through Him

37
No longer His enemies! Justified!
Saved! Reconciled!
  • Romans 510 For if while we were enemies, we
were reconciled to God through the death of His
Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall
    be saved by His life.

38
  • Living faith is an obedient faith
(James 214ff.) each person lost in sin must
    render obedience to
the faith to be justified (Rom 617 1625-26).

39
Acts 238 (NASB)
  • And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of
you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for
the forgiveness of your sins and you shall
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
    -
    cf. Acts 2216 Mark 1616 Rom. 63-4 Gal 327

40
  • Those that put their faith in the Savior and
submit to His command to be baptized can have a
    clear conscience (or peace).

41
1 Peter 321 (NASB)
  • And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you
not the removal of dirt from the flesh,
but an appeal to God for a good conscience
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
    - cf. Col 212-13

42
How Do We Find Peace
with God?
  • Peace is found in Jesus the Savior.
  • Peace is achieved by His blood.
  • Peace is given by our faith in Jesus.
  • Peace with God will continue for every Christian
    who walks by this rule.

43
Psalms 119165 (NASB)
  • Those who love Thy law have great peace, and
nothing causes them to stumble. - cf. Prov.
    31-2, 17

44
Galatians 56 (NASB)
  • For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor
uncircumcision means anything, but faith working
    through love.

45
1 Corinthians 719 (NASB)
  • Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is
nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the
    commandments of God.

46
Galatians 614-15 (NASB)
  • 14 But may it never be that I should boast,
except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
through which the world has been crucified to me,
and I to the world. 15 For neither is
circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a
new creation. - cf. Eph. 422-24

47
Galatians 616 (NASB)
  • And those who will walk by this rule, peace and
mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

48
Are You at Peace with God?
  • Jesus, the Prince of Peace (Isa.
    96) Invites You to Come to Him for True Rest and
Peace for Your Soul (Mat. 1128-30).
