- - Building on Success (BOS)
- - Strengthening African HE
- Knowledge sharing an overarching element, serves
as the programmatic framework
5Partnership programs with CIDA
- Concept and process
- In 18 countries
- - 4 countries for Component 1 Vietnam,
Senegal, Ghana and Honduras - - 3 large Building on Success projects
- - 13 small Building on Success projects
- SACIR remains involved, engaging with senior CIDA
officials - AUCC connecting with other key donors and
organizations - SAE principles remain key considerations
(southern-driven, managing for results, greater
coherence and focus, etc.)
6Partnership programs with CIDA
- Component 1 Complimentary HE interventions
- Pilot initiative given the feedback from the ILO
community - Positive feedback from CIDA Ottawa, CIDA missions
and Southern stakeholders, both governments and
HEIs - Need to be southern-led
- Complimentary initiatives are stand alone and
germane to the work of HE - Limited CIDA relationship with local HEIs
- Potential for leveraging other donor funds
7Partnership programs with CIDA
- Component 2 Building on Success
- Building on Success proposals were due October 1,
2007 and selection held mid-December 2007 - 13 smaller initiatives and 3 larger ones in the

at a pan-sectoral, national level to ensure wide
reach and high-level impact

- AAU engaged with AUCC in the design of this
component - Expect to augment AAUs ongoing efforts and
commitments - Build on February 2004 Africa workshop series
findings - Working with partners from components 1 and 2 to
strengthen their institutional governance
