What is a Health Well Being Local Action
Partnership?
  • An equal partnership of organisations and
    individuals with and interest in the health and
    well being of people living within a
    geographically defined area of high inequality or
    a specific community of interest i.e homeless
    people

Why do we need one in Keighley?
  • To address local health inequalities and
    facilitate improvement in the health and well
    being of people living and working in Keighley
  • To promote and support a more coordinated and
    joined up approach to health and well being
    services, activities and initiatives
  • To ensure local health needs inform and influence
    service planning, commissioning and delivery by
    mainstream providers
  • To ensure locally based organisations responsible
    for delivering health and well being services
    take a strategic and holistic approach to
    delivering high quality and complimentary services

How would it work?
  • Core group of key stakeholders
  • Wider network of organisations and individuals
  • Host Organisation
  • Chaired by an elected member
  • 4 meetings a year
  • Bi annual public event/activity
  • Bi annual coming together of H W LAPs across
    the District

What it could do?
  • Map the services and support structures for
    health and well being in Keighley and identify
    gaps and unmet needs
  • Bring agencies and people together to join up and
    better co-ordinate services and activities, share
    good practice and reduce duplication
  • Encourage and support the health components of
    local plans to be actioned i.e Neighbourhood
    Action Plans
  • Provide mechanisms for disseminating and
    publicising health and well being messages and
    information
  • Become a recognised consultee on strategic and
    other matters
  • Provide an infrastructure to engage with
    strategic level partnership work and tPCT
    commissioning
