future of work in the EU

3
The EDI mission
  • EDI focuses on how employees at all levels can be
    innovative in their daily work.
  • By looking at different countries across the EU,
the EDI network aims to identify
  • features internal to the work situation that
encourage EDI e.g. nature of work roles,
    incentive and appraisal structures, opportunities
    for learning, management style
  • features external to the work situation that
encourage EDI e.g. training provision, labour
    market regulation, taxation systems
  • The comparative perspective will enable us to
draw lessons for the EU and member states about
    how to facilitate EDI.

4
Why EDI? Why now?
  • As part of the Lisbon agenda and the goal of
creating a knowledge based economy, member states
need to develop and use its educated workforce in
order to sustain competitiveness in the global
    economy.
  • EDI offers an important and relatively
    under-explored contribution to that process.
  • The EDI network has begun to initiate research on
    this topic.
