• The Discipline of Practicing Gods presence
  acknowledges two basic truths
• GOD IS PRESENT BECAUSE HE IS GOD AND THIS IS HIS
  CREATION.
• HE CALLS US TO MAKE HIS PRESENCE FELT IN OUR
  EVERY DAY.

Gods Presence
(Psa 911) He who dwells in the shelter of the
Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

• (Psa 1611) You will show me the path of life
  in Your presence is fulness of joy at Your right
  hand there are pleasures for evermore.

(Heb 135-6) Because God has said, "Never will
I leave you never will I forsake you." So we say
with confidence, "The Lord is my helper I will
not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
(Deu 3327) The eternal God is your refuge, and
underneath are the everlasting arms.

• (Jonah 11-3) The word of the LORD came to Jonah
  son of Amittai "Go to the great city of Nineveh
  ..." But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed
  for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he
  found a ship bound for that port. After paying
  the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish
  to flee from the LORD.

• Observation We cannot run from God, no matter
  how hard we tried
• (Amos 519) It will be as though a man fled from
  a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered
  his house and rested his hand on the wall only to
  have a snake bite him.

• (Jer 2323-24) "Am I only a God nearby,"
  declares the LORD, "and not a God far away? Can
  anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see
  him?" declares the LORD. "Do not I fill heaven
  and earth?" declares the LORD.

  Where can I flee from Your presence?...

• (Psa 1397-10) If I go up to the heavens, You
  are there if I make my bed in the depths, You
  are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if
  I settle on the far side of the sea, even there
  Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will
  hold me fast.

  I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made
  the sea and the land." This terrified them and
  they asked, "What have you done?"

  usually do, and sit before you to listen to your
  words, but they do not put them into practice.
  With their mouths they express devotion, but
  their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.

  looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking
  at himself, goes away and immediately forgets
  what he looks like

  will become calm. I know that it is my fault that
  this great storm has come upon you." ...

• (Jonah 111-17) Instead, the men did their best
  to row back to land. But they could not, for the
  sea grew even wilder than before. Then they cried
  to the LORD, "O LORD, please do not let us die
  for taking this man's life

  him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm. At
  this the men greatly feared the LORD, and they
  offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows to
  Him. But the LORD provided a great fish to
  swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish
  three days and three nights.
