  • More things to do (more pressure!!)
  • Greater need to plan your time (Become more
    independent)
  • External exams throughout the year
  • Getting used to style of exam and exam language,
    grade boundaries etc..
  • More application of key skills and concepts

  • What can you do?
  • Find out about the course structure.
  • Do you have coursework?
  • Find out when key unit tests and exams are.
  • Know which ones count towards your GCSE grade
  • Obtain or develop a revision list for each
    unit/module.
  • Have class work and other materials to hand to
    help with revision.

How can you help?
  • Revision and home study
  • An appropriate amount of hrs home study per week.
  • Quiet and comfortable place to study
  • Free from interruptions (TV, music etc)
  • Help your child plan their time effectively
    (possibly draw up a timetable).
  • Use the revision guides and CD
  • Use mymaths and GCSE bitesize.

  • Get involved- Test your children.(make it fun!)

Practise, Practise, Practise!
  • Obtain past exam papers and markschemes from your
    childs teacher, or download them from the OCR
    website www.ocr.org.uk
  • Try completing exam papers under test conditions
    in a set time.

Get help
  • Encourage your child to seek help from their
    teacher
  • If you are unsure, call your childs teacher to
    enquire about revision sessions nearer exam time.
  • Encourage your child to attend lunch time/after
    school revision sessions.

Keep in touch
  • Speak to your childs class teacher or to the
    Head of Dept of any concerns
