  • Regulated Economy the resources and decisions
are shared between the government and other
    groups or individuals

a product that producers are willing and able to
provide and the price (Providers and producers)

Types of economic Conditions
  • Pure Competition large number of suppliers
    offering very similar products
  • Monopoly there is one supplier offering a unique
product. This producer/supplier can then control
how much a product or service costs (usually
    making the cost very high)
  • Ologopoly a very few businesses offer similar
    products

12
Monopoly
  • Microsoft- settled anti-trust litigation in the
    U.S. in 2001
  • British East India Company- created as a legal
    trading monopoly in 1600.
  • It was granted an English Royal Charter by
Elizabeth I on December 31, 1600 with the
intention of favoring trade privileges in India.
The Royal Charter effectively gave the newly
created HEIC a 21 year monopoly on all trade in
the East Indies. The Company transformed from a
commercial trading venture to one that virtually
ruled India as it acquired auxiliary governmental
and military functions, until its dissolution in
1858 following the events of the Indian Rebellion
of 1857 (then known as the Indian Mutiny).
