  • Far be it from Me-- for those who honor Me I
will honor, and those who despise Me will be
    lightly esteemed (1 Samuel 230).

Letter from Intercessor (Brenda)
  • Hi Peter,
  • For a week or so now, whenever I pray for
people, makes little difference who it is, this
passage from Psalm 18 has been coming to me.  In
    pre-service prayer in Walt's office yesterday, I
was again reminded of it--and what leads up to
    it,

4
  • (The Lord hearing the cries of His people and
stepping out of heaven to act on their behalf in
a pretty dramatic way).  I felt maybe it would
have been helpful to share this yesterday in
light of the debate that was going on.

Psalm 1824-28
  • 24 The LORD has rewarded me according to my
    righteousness,        according to the cleanness
of my hands in his sight.
  • 25 To the faithful you show yourself faithful,
to the blameless you show yourself
    blameless,

6
Psalm 1824-28
  • 26 to the pure you show yourself pure,
but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd.
  • 27 You save the humble        but bring low
    those whose eyes are haughty.
  • 28 You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning
my God turns my darkness into light.

  • On Thursday morning we were thanking God for
some of his attributes, and someone was thanking
Him for his unchangeable-ness and his ability to
come to people as they needed him to show up
(can't remember if it was the same person).  So,
I began praying this passage--to the faithful he
shows himself faithful and so on.  But, I
    couldn't get this idea

8
  • out of my head.  He shows up in the way we need
him, but we play a part.  A minuscule part to be
sure since our faithfulness is pretty
changing--but he is not.  So, in prayer, I've
been using this passage to talk to God about his
faithful ones, his pure, his blameless.  Lorraine
and I were praying this for you and Mary Ellen
    yesterday morning

9
  • because we were reminding God how you guys have
comforted so many others, and now it was your
turn to be comforted.  Anyway, I don't think I'm
doing this justice in words.  Hope it makes
    sense.

Mike Cheatleys Observations
  • Far be it from Me-- for those who honor Me I
will honor, and those who despise Me will be
    lightly esteemed (1 Samuel 230).
  • What does honour look like? What if a child
pushed itself away from its parents reach?

Reminds me of Prodigal Son
  • Possible to leave the sphere of the Fathers
    protection and provision
  • Possible to do this without moving very far
    (older brother)
  • What was the Father thinking when He gave in to
    the young sons request?
