• CAMPAIGN DATES 27th November-10th December 2006
• WHO All Men and women
• ADVERTISE Please display posters on doors and
  in windows, make leaflets available and offer
  information and signposting if appropriate
• ADVISE Sexual Health has 3 main components
• Delay Encouraging those not sexually active to
  consider delaying their sexual debut (leaflet
  enclosed).
• Safer Sex messages including the use of
  protection .
• Access to services if an individual has exposed
  themselves to a Sexually Transmitted Infection
• Refer men and women to their GP or Practice
  Nurse, or to Genitourinary Medicine Clinic at
  LRI.If they are worried that they may be at risk
  of a Sexually Transmitted Infection. Given the
  personal nature of sexual health , please
  reassure people that women can request to see a
  female practitioner and men can request to see a
  male practitioner .
• Please also emphasis that any consultation about
  sexual health is Confidential . GUM are not
  obliged to inform GPs that they have attended the
  clinic or to inform anyone else.
• Child Protection If a young person under 16
  approaches you for information about sexual
  health you should provide them with this .You may
  become aware during your discussions that they
  are engaging in sexual activity . You are obliged
  under the law to assess whether they have
  undertaken this with full informed consent.
  Attached is an information sheet which explains
  this process to you . You should consider all of
  these conversations with a young person as
  confidential.

• a) asked for further information and advice or
• b) been referred to their GP/Practice Nurse or
• c) been referred to the Genitourinary Medicine
  Clinic (GUM) AND RETURN TO
