Highlighting practice through video and web-based
learning resources
Introduction Students taking the module Learning
in Organisations (110MGT304) indicated a desire
to have more practical examples included in the
content to enable them to relate theory and
practice.
- Aims of the Project
- To integrate the use of video and case studies
into the module - To encourage an open learning approach by
enabling students to use learning resources in a
flexible manner
Potential benefits to own students Videos
enable students to see and hear experts
addressing issues covered during the module
Case studies, based on interviews with local
practitioners, enable students to listen to
digital recordings in class and access the
transcripts on Queens Online The use of these
audio-visual resources provides additional
learning stimuli for students
Current status, outcomes, evaluation results,
projects wider applicability
- During semester 1 of 2002/3 commercially produced
videos were integrated into module delivery and
the evaluation results were positive. - A minority of these level 3 students, following
one degree pathway, indicated that this was their
first experience of learning by video at QUB. - Local case studies are being developed and will
be integrated into the module during 2003/4.
