Review of travel services and airlines deals
  • 12 agencies signed the contract with Carlson
Wagonlit Travels for 3 years from 16 Oct 2006 to
    15 Oct 2009.
  • Agencies UNDP, UNFPA, UNIFEM, UNHCR,
UNCTAD, WFP, UNIC, UNIDO, UNODC, UNV, UN-HABITAT,
    and UNDSS.
  • 2 more agencies UNESCO UNICEF have joined from
    this year.
  • It was felt that a review of the travel contract
with CWT should be undertaken soon.
  • UNDP has taken the lead
  • UNDP is also exploring the possibility of signing
    direct contracts with additional domestic
airlines which have now been categorized safe
    flights.
  • We would like to thank WHO/SEARO office for
sharing the Airlines Safety Chart with all the UN
    agencies on monthly basis.

6
Lease Agreements for accommodation
  • Urgent need for standard or common lease
    agreement
  • OMT is working towards one standard rubric for UN
lease agreements to be used by all for
    international staff members.
  • Advantages
  • New intl staff members have access to a standard
    lease agreement on arrival
  • Each agency does not have to negotiate clauses
    every time
  • Staff members protected from misunderstanding
    Indian Legalese.
  • Staff members would not have to face harassment
    by landlords.
  • Several agencies have sent their standard lease
    agreements.
  • Based on these submissions we will develop a
standard UN lease agreement and have it vetted by
a legal expert to be sure that UN interests are
    protected.

7
Review / Identification of Guest houses
  • We have circulated the lists of guest houses
compiled by UNICEF, UNIFEM UNDP to all UN
    Agencies.
  • All the UN agencies can take advantage of the
negotiated rates at these guest houses
  • Lists will be reviewed from time to time.

8
Review of panel of UN Physicians
  •  The  Panel of UN designated physicians has not
been reviewed  for a long time  and currently has
only two doctors in Delhi and both are located in
    South Delhi.
  • UNDP is exploring options to empanel more doctors
in other parts of Delhi to expand coverage,
    access  and options.
  • This exercise will also involve empanelling
    adequate number of female doctors.
  • UNDP has also sought views on the possibility of
hiring hospitals as institutional UN Physician.
