2The aim Developing the ECPA as a tool for for
sharing and encouraging good practices in crime
prevention
- Also a meeting for the ECPA- Development project
that is funded by the Commissions AGIS programme - Project partners
- FI (lead), BE, DK, SK, LT, UK, European Forum for
Urban Safety
3Discussion
- Results from questionnaire that was sent to
National Representatives - The future of the project?
- Why have some states continuously managed to
submit good entries into the ECPA competition? - How can we develop the ECPA to be an even better
tool for sharing good practices? - Should the ECPA have a theme or not?
4Lessons..
- Discussion and answers from National
Representatives show that member states consider
the ECPA to be a valuable tool for sharing and
promoting good practices.
5- 2. ECPA Theme?
- The working group agreed that it is good for the
ECPA competition to have a theme (rather than no
theme) - However, the theme should be
- broad
- ideally anchored to the EUCPN work programme.
- announced well in advance
63. Developing jury work, documentation and
communication - two stage process? Selection of
a short-list first? - possibility to ask more
information from the shortlisted projects? -
presentations in presence of the jury? - more
time needed for a thorough evaluation of the
project - 4 weeks not enough Current situation
with time-tables emerged because of
synchronization of ECPA with national
competitions. The jury process cannot get
essentially more time unless either national
competitions are moved earlier or EPCA moved
later. Following ECPA winners after the award
how do the winners for earlier years do now?
