Title: Joints

1
Joints
We can bend, swivel, stretch, pivot, and
point. Our bodies can perform more than one kind
of motion because we have joints
2
Your Insides!
Hinge Joints
Ball and Socket Joints
Gliding Joints
3
  • Hinge Joint
  • Allows the body to bend and straighten
  • Allows movement in a certain spot to take place
  • It is similar to opening and closing a door
  • Some examples are the elbow, knee, ankle and
    between the fingers

4
Ball and Socket Joint
  • Allows twisting and turning movements
  • One of the bones has a rounded end which is the
    ball
  • Some examples are the shoulder and the hip
  • The shoulder joint is the most flexible joint in
the entire body it allows movement in ANY
    direction.

5
Gliding Joints
  • allow two flat bones to slide over each other
like in the bones of the foot and wrist, and in
    the bones of the spine.

6
Whos Double Jointed?
  • If you are, it just means that you have extra
long ligaments in your joints and you can bend
    them farther than usual!
