The company
Naturener
Naturener is a company engaged in the development
and operation of renewable energy sourced
electricity production plants. Naturener focuses
its activity in hydropower, wind energy and solar
technologies, as well as in the prediction and
market trading of electricity production. Naturene
r results from the merger of Guadalmancha with
the Hidronorte Group, its main shareholders
Tharsis (majority owner, part of the SAPEC
Group), CCM Corporación (industrial branch of the
CCM savings bank) and US investors.
4
Our values
Naturener
Naturener, further to the responsibility of being
a profitable and financially sound company, is
solely engaged in renewable sources of energy as
a means of providing a clean alternative
contribution to the energy market. Being
renewable sources indigenous and linked to the
local resources, Naturener is committed to
provide a sustainable development for the areas
surrounding its facilities, and thus works
closely with regional and local Authorities and
with land owners to match the interests of all
involved parties.

Solar PV
Solar Photovoltaic
On December 2005, Naturener started the
development of a generation plant based in Solar
Photovoltaic technology, a new and promising way
to generate energy from a source which is
available worldwide. The new plant, with a
capacity of 10MW, is expected to be connected to
the grid on January 2007, and the experience
gained will be used to replicate the plant in
several new developments.
12
Prediction Trading
  • In order to sell the energy produced in the spot
market, Naturener established in 2005 a joint
venture with Proydeco Ingeniería y Servicios to
group the production of the plants of several
operators, thus optimizing revenue and operation
    management.
  • Services used and offered to third parties
    include
  • Energy production sale in the spot market
  • Prediction of production on an hourly basis
  • Local climate modeling
  • Engineering and consulting

13
International development
International development
Naturener has started international expansion in
2006, focusing on the development, erection and
operation of renewable sourced electricity
generation projects, especially wind energy,
hydropower and solar photovoltaic plants.
However, other technologies which might be
economically interesting are not excluded,
especially biomass, nor further energy-related
activities, such as generation, supply or trading
of energy (electricity, heat, fuels or raw
materials). The initial project development
objective, centered in the USA and Canada, is
2000 MW.
14
Our team
Experience
  • Naturener has a multidisciplinary team of highly
    motivated engineers, physicists, economists,
operators and promoters that cover a wide range
of capabilities, allowing for a close control of
the whole value chain and providing in-house
expertise in several key issues that constitute
    our core business
  • Project development
  • Naturener has ample experience in project
development, including access to the right
    equipment manufacturers in efficient conditions,
as well as the needed know-how for the
optimization of project construction and in the
    plants daily operation and maintenance.
  • Hydropower
  • Naturener has also wide experience in the
evaluation of hydropower facilities and in the
    management of environmental issues regarding
    their implantation and operation.

15
Experience
  • Wind energy
  • Naturener provides extensive know-how on site
identification and evaluation of potential. In
this sense, Naturener has developed in-house
efficient tools to make wind potential maps, and
to perform further studies locally, and thus
focus better the local measurement campaigns for
interesting wind energy sites, with a fairly
    accurate estimation available before actual
    measuring equipment is needed.
  • Furthermore, Naturener uses this same proprietary
technology to forecast energy production with a
low uncertainty margin up to 36 hours in advance,
which is very useful regarding the concerns of
    the grid operator.
  • The staff of Naturener has been directly involved
in the technical and administrative development
of over 950 MW in 24 wind farms, having initiated
many times that figure, and in the operation and
maintenance of a 49,5 MW wind farm.

Experience
16
Experience
  • Solar Photovoltaic
  • Technical and administrative development of 200
MW in 30 solar PV installations (10 MW own
    developments in their final stages).
  • Biomass and biofuels
  • 5 MW biomass plant in Castilla La Mancha.
  • 200,000 Ton/year biodiesel plant in Cadiz.
  • Cogeneration
  • Over 600 MW technical development in 40
cogeneration projects and implementation of steam
    boilers.
  • Power infrastructures
  • Engineering and administrative development of
power transformer substations and HV lines.
  • Manufacturing
  • Technical services to the industry and support
    for the establishment of manufacturing
    operations.

Experience
17
Experience
  • Economics and financing
  • A major issue here is the achievement of a
reasonable Power Purchase Agreement, both in
terms of price and term. Naturener has ample
experience in selling the electricity production,
both through long-term contracts as well as in
    the spot market.
  • Naturener provides also all or part of the
required equity, together with access to the
needed project financing, and has ample know-how
in the assessment of the right combination of
power purchase prices and taxation, special
financing and international trade and cooperation
    concepts available.
  • Risk assessment
  • Risk assessment of design, construction and
operation, analysis of insurance needs and
    minimization of losses.
