About me
  • I am an Integrative Child Psychotherapist MA UKCP
    reg.
  • I have worked for the past 12 years with children
    and adolescents in a variety of inner city
    contexts ranging from Education, Play and Youth
    Services, Family Support Services, CAMHS and The
    Community Arts.
  • I have specialized in working with young people
    who have learning differences and or disabilities
    and who may also experience significant emotional
    and behavioural difficulties in the course of
    their every day lives.

My aim is to create a therapy unique to each
child and in the service of each child.
  • The theoretical basis of my work is founded in
    the integration of Attachment Theory, Object
    Relations and Intersubjectivity with a solid
    grounding in Body Oriented approaches to working
    with the human being.

  • Emotional Intelligence is the precursor to
    cognitive ability. Children need to feel safe
    inside and outside to be free to learn new skills.

  • In the context of a healing relationship children
    can grow into their full potential.
  • Through the use of image and metaphor, children
    are able to explore and express preverbal
    memories and sensations which continue to impede
    and inhibit current relationships and learning.
  • Memories too painful to express with words can be
    channeled sensitively in the first instance
    through the arts and brought into conscious
    awareness where they can be worked upon openly in
    the context of a trusting relationship.
  • The therapist works with any medium including,
    puppetry, clay, paint, music, drama and movement
    to help a child explore their inner and outer
    worlds of relationship. In addition, Paul Harris
    is fluent in three community languages, English,
    French and BSL and is able to work with children
    who communicate using non-standard and alternate
    forms of communication.

Working in your school the therapist will
  • Work with and along side parents, teachers,
    support staff and other professionals to best
    integrate the work that the child is doing.
  • Work in accordance with the Policies and
    Procedures relevant to Child Protection within
    the school.
  • Regularly review the work being done.
