School Hours

• School begins 750 a.m.
• School ends 310 p.m.

What about our Classes?

• Classes are about 46 minutes long.
• You have 5 minutes between classes.
• There are 8 class periods each day. You will be
  in your Humanities class for two periods in a
  row.

Lockers

• Students will have a locker in the 6th grade
  academic area and in PE class.
• Practice working a combination lock.

Clay Connections

• The Clay Connection notebook is used to keep
  track of assignments and should be filled out in
  every class.
• You will get your Clay Connections notebook when
  you register in August. Read it carefully
  because you will find answers to a lot of
  questions in the student handbook section!

Youre part of a TEAM!

• There will be four 6th grade teams- they will
  become like a middle school family to you!
• Each team consists of teachers who share a common
  group of students.
• Team classes and lockers will be in the same
  hallway.

What supplies will I need?

• Each team of teachers will provide a list of
  supplies. You will find out what team youre on
  at registration in August.

Homework?

• YES! A sixth grade student can expect to average
  one to two hours of homework each night.
• Each student is issued a Clay Connections to
  record assignments.
• You can check MyCCS to monitor your grades!
• You can also check the Clay Website to find out
  what homework you have.

Organization!

• One key to middle school success is being
  ORGANIZED.

Lunch time!

• A hot school lunch costs 2.25.
• Additional items are available for purchase-like
  chips, fruit snacks, even ice cream bars!
• Students will eat under the supervision of lunch
  room monitors.
• Lunch is 30 minutes long.
• Students will eat with other 6th graders.
