2
Technology Fellow Program
  • The purpose of the Technology Fellowship
Program (TFP) is to recognize, encourage, and
reward faculty members who are leaders in the
innovative use of technology in teaching and
    learning.
  • This competitive award is given to ten faculty
    members a year.

3
Overview
  • Each technology fellow plans a project that will
be showcased at a conference in the Spring.
  • The project and plan are tailored to each
    individuals technology level and needs.
  • There is an expectation of data collection,
    assessment, research and dissemination.
  • The plan and program are continually monitored
and modified as different concerns or needs
    arise.

4
iCohere Community
  • Much of the feedback is conducted within the
iCohere community. The participants learn from
    and support each other.
  • There are monthly updates with feedback.
  • There are 3 types of community relationships
    Peers, Consultants, and Evaluators.

5
Skills Development Issues
  • Everyone has different skill levels
  • Everyone is busy and does not have time
  • Most faculty members want to accomplish a task-
    not learn a technological skill
  • Several faculty members are not comfortable
taking risks and/or making mistakes in front of
    others
  • Assessing technology use is difficult for many
    faculty members.

6
Skills Development Solutions
  • Just in time technology
  • Help with the task, not the skill
  • Find out what they really want to know
  • Empower people to make change
  • Give opportunities for self-learning
  • Train faculty members how to conduct their own
    action research

7
Preliminary Findings
  • It is the people, not the technology
  • There are always covert agendas that need
    addressing
  • All technology is self taught. People need
    support more than instruction
  • Technology fluency is addictive . . . It will
continue to grow as long as it assists in
reaching the goals of the university
  • Faculty empowerment leads to faculty leaders.
Change comes from within the existing university
    structures
