Hertfordshire Gifted Talented Conference
2008 Releasing and realising potential in
all Keynote Speakers Professor Francoys Gagne
and Professor John Geake
Thursday 21st February 2008 from 9.15am to
4pm at Hertfordshire Development Centre
Addressing the second Hertfordshire Gifted and
Talented conference will be two of the most high
profile and internationally renowned names in the
field, both of whom were keynote speakers at the
World Conference for Gifted Children, held in
August at the University of Warwick. Professor
Francoys Gagne, from the University of Quebec in
Montreal Canada has spent many years researching
the education of the gifted and able and is known
worldwide for his Differentiated Model of
Giftedness and Talent (DMGT), exploring the many
factors that can affect the development of
potential. He has written extensively and won
many awards for his work, including the
Distinguished Scholar Award from the National
Association for Gifted Children for significant
contributions to the field of knowledge regarding
the education of gifted individuals
- Professor John Geake is the founder of the Oxford
Cognitive Neuroscience Education Forum (OCNEF) at
Oxford Brookes University. His post includes
leading the Institutes research developments in
gifted education through the Research Centre for
Able pupils. He has conducted research into the
neuropsychology of giftedness and talent over
many years and his current research focuses on
the neural foundations of high creative
intelligence. He has presented at conferences
worldwide and written hundreds of academic and
professional publications and will speak about
the gifted brain. - The aims of the conference are to

practitioners and experts in the - field and international perspectives on Gifted
and Talented education - Participate in workshops covering subject and
themed teaching and - learning approaches that support the education
of able, gifted and talented - students e.g. provision for Able
Mathematicians, Making good writing even better
- (the author Geoff Dean), thinking skills, P4C,
mentoring, Key to Learning - (Galina Doyle) , NLP and provision mapping
- Examine and gather resources from organisations
such as NACE, YGT, NAGC, SAPERE, Villiers Park - and Destination Imagination
- Plan ways forward for schools to improve their
provision for able, gifted and talented students - See and share best practice from schools
- The conference is for all school practitioners,
Able, Gifted and Talented Co-ordinators,
Leadership Team members and Headteachers. The
cost is 128 per delegate for all HCC staff with
a Membership Plus contract, 145 for all other
HCC staff and 171 for Non HCC staff. To book
