Opening/ Circle Time
  • Each day the children will talk about the day,
    date, share their journals,and work on learning
    new concepts.

Story time
  • An important part of the day is listening to and
    discussing stories. This re-inforces
    pre-reading skills.
  • Please read to your child daily at home.

Skill Development
  • Work time will include cutting, pasting,
    pre-reading, mathematics and language skills.

Play Centers
  • Play centers help reinforce sharing, language and
    social skills. Some centers remain the same all
    year, others change.

Lunch and Recess
  • Children may bring their own lunch or purchase
    lunch. Children sit with their class in the
    cafeteria.
  • Lunch tickets are sold on the first day of the
    week.

Rest Time
  • After recess children have a quiet, rest time.
    Please send in a towel for your child to rest on.
    This will be sent home on a regular basis for
    washing.

Special Areas
  • Each class has 40 minutes with a trained art,
    music and physical education teacher each week.
    Sneakers are needed for gym.
  • Children also go to the school library.

Tips for a Successful Year
  • Make sure your child is well rested.
  • Have your child eat a good breakfast so that
    he/she has energy everyday.
  • Gather school items the night before.
  • Read daily to your child.
  • Read Mrs. Rubins Principally Speaking sent
    home every Friday.
  • Volunteer in your childs classroom or in PTA
    activities.

  • Call the school and ask for the Language Arts

Registration
  • Documents needed
  • Birth certificate with raised seal.
  • Social security card.
  • Proof of residency.
  • Dont forget your child!

The registration process
  • To enter the school you may have to press a
    buzzer and identify yourself.
  • Follow signs to registration or report to the
    main office.
