B.E.A.R Notebook
  • Clean out notebook daily!
  • PLEASE put a note with the money so the teacher
    will know what the is for
  • All transportation absence notes can be placed
    in the front sleeve of the binder
  • Initial Conduct Folder EVERYDAY!!!!
  • Homework needs to be turned in the next day
    (unless otherwise noted)

  • Need to fill out a CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK
    FORM---- even if you want to join on a field
    trip.
  • Other ways to volunteer
  • cut out laminating/ creating unit books
  • make examples for a teacher
  • make copies
  • read with a student
  • hall decorations
  • etc.

Ways to volunteer in October and November
  • Pumpkin donations for activities
  • Cut out Indian Vests
  • Provide one item for friendship snack
  • Help with pictures for reading celebration
  • Help with art activities
  • Pilgrim Pictures
  • Take pictures for your childs teacher as needed

GOOD HABITS FOR KINDERGARTENERS
  • Do homework at a desk or kitchen table
  • Clean out backpack and BEAR Notebook EVERYDAY!!!!
  • Take a break, if you are tired or frustrated
  • GET PLENTY OF REST!!!!!
  • EAT BREAKFAST
  • Read home readers and do homework in a quiet
    place with no distractions
  • Make a nightly routine and stick to it!!
  • Take your time and do your best
  • Be able to button and unbutton own clothes
  • Please practice tying shoes
  • Be able to go to the bathroom by themselves

Read-Well Kindergarten
  • What is Read-Well?
  • Instruction includes
  • Read Well is a systematic Phonics program that
    provides multiple opportunities to develop oral
    language, vocabulary and phonemic awareness.
  • Letter/ sound associations
  • Blending (Sounding out words)
  • Word patterns
  • Tricky words (irregular words)
  • Duet stories (shared reading with rich content)
  • Solo stories (Student read stories)

READ WELL
  • Bumpy blending --- /c/ /a/ /t/--- say the sound
    of each letter quick
  • Smooth blending --- saying sounds of the letters
    smoothly and connecting to make a word
  • Fluency ---- a students ability to read a text
    quickly and accurately enough to ensure
    understanding. i.e. no smooth blending or bumpy
    blending words.

  • Begins in October
  • Each student will be assessed to determine their
    independent learning level
  • Not every student will start at the same unit
  • Each unit could take from 5-7 days to complete or
    longer until all skills are mastered
  • Every child is unique. Their pace will all be
    different.

  • Folder that is sent home weekly
  • Teacher will mark the unit that your child needs
    to work on for the week .
  • Do one page 3 times a night
  • Inital the star each night
  • This is to reinforce what your child has already
    completed in small group
  • Used to build a stronger foundation for reading
