12FEDERATION DEVELOPMENT TRACK ROLE IN THE SISO
EXCOM VISION
- The Federation Development Track can, and must,
fulfill many of Warrens visionary needs This
track owns most of the problem! - What should we do?
- Fidelity/accreditation standards
- Data interchange standards
- Tool requirements and interoperability standards
- How are we going to do this?
13DEVELOP FIDELITY / ACCREDITATION STANDARDS
- Support need for substantive (semantic)
interoperability, not just technical
(syntactical) interoperability - Multi-dimensional problem Much richer field of
study than currently seen - Significant research required to establish
technology to manage semantic interoperability - Many standards will be developed based on
fidelity technology - Research needs home for discussion and endorsement
14DATA INTERCHANGE STANDARDS
- Logical consequence of FEDEP
- Obtain agreement on the format of data that is
exchanged define content of arrows - Conceptual Model papers provide a great start
15TOOL REQUIREMENTS INTEROPERABILITY STANDARDS
- Also logical consequence of FEDEP
- Obtain agreement on the details of the processes
the work that is conducted - Insure relevance to full spectrum of MS
applications - Dont build tools build testable requirements,
processes, and interfaces
16PROPOSED APPROACH
- Restructure and refocus track and forums
- Retain current forum focus and add fidelity
component - Merge forums into single federation development
program - Tailor program to meet federation development
needs - Improve synergy
- Common/coordinated themes in CFP
- Common paper reviews more common sessions
better coordination - Set up tiger teams to address specific issues
17SOME SUGGESTIONS
- Provide a unique service not just papers --
i.e., improve the utility and credibility of
distributed simulation - Allocate portions of this goal to the individual
groups - Use CFP to identify specific aspects of this goal
to attack in a specific session
