• When John (the Baptist) came to you in the way of
  righteousness, you did not believe him but tax
  collectors and prostitutes did

1st Reading

• It is so easy to blame others for our problems.
  Its not fair! we complain. Sometimes we even
  blame God The Lords ways is not fair! But God
  challenges us, Is it my way that is unfair, or
  are not your ways unfair?

2nd Reading

• Paul urged the members of the community to stop
  working for ones selfish interest by
• Avoiding rivalry and conceit
• Humility and esteem for others
• Charity
• Seeking others interest rather than ones own.

Gospel

• Jesus reminds us of the following
• No mere lip service or claiming to follow Gods
  law will give us access to Gods grace.
• Only a sincere METANOIA (change of heart) can
  bring us closer to God.
• Accept the message of the people sent by God.

The 3 readings can be summarized by the words of
Amos 5 21-24

• I hate, I spurn your feasts, I take no pleasure
  in your solemnities Your cereal offerings I will
  not accept, nor consider your stall-fed peace
  offerings. Away with your noisy songs! I will not
  listen to the melodies of your harps. But if you
  would offer me holocausts, then let justice surge
  like water, and goodness like an unfailing
  stream.

• Justice towards others (especially to migrants),
  goodness and holiness of heart these are the
  things that would give access to Gods friendship
  and love.
