2 WHAT FOREST ENGINEERS DO
You will learn to design and analyse structures,
production processes, and operations plans.
PROBLEM SOLVING DESIGN
PROTECT THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
As an engineer, you will use your
problem-solving skills to satisfy societys needs
while protecting the natural environment.Â
WORK IN DIVERSE INDUSTRIES
FE Graduates work in Forestry and other
industries and sectors, and are especially suited
to those fields where engineering projects and
operations have a direct impact on the
environment.
Systems Engineers with an understanding of the
ecosystem
3 UNB FOREST ENGINEERING PROGRAMS OPTIONS
BSc IN FOREST ENGINEERING
Foundation Basic science, engineering and
management knowledge, but also learning how to
think critically and solve problems like applied
scientists, engineers and managers. Â Sophomore
Basic understanding of systems engineering
systems, ecosystems, economic and social
systems. Â Junior Design of structures, design
and management of production systems and
projects Systems engineering in the natural
environment. Â Senior Solving complex,
multi-faceted and multi-objective problems that
require integration and management of
multi-disciplinary knowledge and problem-solving
approaches in realistic problem situations.

4 UNB FOREST ENGINEERING PROGRAMS OPTIONS
The RPF designation is what you require to work
as a Professional Forester all across Canada.
BSc IN FOREST ENGINEERING
REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL FORESTER OPTION
As an RPF, you can decide when, where, and how
the forest should be harvested and replanted in
ways that sustain its resources and protect
wildlife.
The RPF option to your program will give you
advanced training in
? Forest Watershed Fire Management
? Communities Ecosystems
? Management of Insects Fungi
? Forest Vegetation Plant Physiology
This route gives you double accreditation as a
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and as a
Professional Forester (RPF), bridging the gap
between the two professions
