Requirements
  • Each students is required to pass one semester of
    health class, which is a .50 (1/2) credit.

  • HEALTH - .50 (1/2) Credit/Semester
  • Your basic health information is covered
    throughout this course. The main topic areas
    include mental health, nutrition,
    fitness/exercise, alcohol, tobacco, drugs, first
    aid/safety, adult CPR, human sexuality, and
    personal hygiene/appearance.

Health Continued
  • This course stresses the importance of physical,
    mental, and social benefits of practicing good
    health habits. The aim of the course is to
    develop an awareness of the control, which one
    can develop over his or her own welfare. This
    will be accomplished through lecture, notes,
    projects, debates, hands on activities,
    scenarios, speakers, and distance learning
    opportunities.

Mental Health
  • Students will learn about their personal
    identity, emotions, and stress. The will also
    learn how to deal with these issues as they
    occur.

Nutrition Exercise
  • Several weeks will be spent on understanding the
    importance of eating habits and exercises
    lasting effects on life.

Substance Misuse Abuse
  • Students will complete a debate project on some
    sort of policy or use of substances. We will
    spend several weeks learning about the lasting
    effects of substance use and we will look at the
    role that the media plays in influence.

Adult CPR and First Aid
  • Each student will have the opportunity to get
    certified for adult CPR through Mrs. Hoffman and
    the Red Cross.

Sex Education
  • Students will learn about the male and female
    reproductive system, pregnancy, sexually
    transmitted infections (STIs) and contraception.
