2Click on start, programs, Macromedia
Dreamweaver, and then Dreamweaver to get
started.
3In order to publish web pages, you will first
need to set up an account on the remote server.
4Click on new
5When this window pops up, call the site name your
first name. For example, chris
6Change the local root folder by clicking on the
yellow folder icon
7Select the V drive to access your Language and
Lit folder
8Select the folder for your class
Select your name
Click select
9Your folder address should appear in this box.
When it does, select remote info
Click OK ?
10In access, select FTP
11In ftp host, type
2. Login using your group name (gr1, gr2, etc.)
3. Type the password jafhs
4. Click ok
12When you click ok, your folder on the server will
be set up.
13The contents of the folder should appear here
14Here is a copy of my V drive account. It has
all of the student folders in Language and Lit
Notice that there are two sides to the site
and the local side. (folders are located at Foran)
The remote side (folders are located at recol),
15When a local file (lang.htm) gets put" into the
remote side, it is uploaded
16All of the files on the remote side are published
files. They are the web sites that you see on the
Internet. Whenever you make a new website or
edit an old one, you will need to save the file
in a local folder and then put it into the
remote side in order to view it on the Internet.
17Now you are ready to make a web page! Select new
file and click on it.
18Click on modified and it puts your files in
chronological order from most recent to oldest.
The most recent files will always appear at the
top of your list.
Double click on the new file you created called
untitled.htm
19Welcome to your first website. Oftentimes the
first or main page is known as the home page.
20You may drag the toolbar to anywhere on the page
by clicking on the blue tab on the left side if
it.
21There are many things you can do now to make a
web page. Lets take a look at some of the basic
tasks. Giving your page a background can be done
by right clicking on the page and selecting page
properties.
22There are two ways to add a background using a
solid color or adding a picture. To add a solid
background, select a color from the palette.
Notice that you may select many variations of a
color by clicking on this icon
23By moving the gradient bar tool up and down,
Lets select the color blue on the palette.
many shades of blue can be added to a custom
color list that can be used later.
24Select the color you want to use as a background
and click ok.
25The color you selected will appear in the
background box.
When finished selecting colors, click ok.
You may also select colors for text and links the
same way.

28To create a table, select insert
29Click on table.
Set the number of rows and columns you want and
click ok.
30To add an image, click on insert and image
31Select a saved image from a folder and open it.
32To add a background image into a cell of the
table, use the toolbar
33Now locate the file in a folder and open it.
34Making links on your website will make it more
interesting and valuable. It is more useful to
have keywords, phrases or images serve as links
on your page than merely providing the web
address.
Lets make a link to Mr. Turtolas Cyberenglish
Center. To start, type the phrase on the page
and access the toolbar area called link
35To create the link you may either type the URL in
the link box, or copy the address from the
source website on Internet Explorer and paste it.
