• Hernando was born (1485-1547)
• When Hernando got older he joined the Spanish
  forces that conquered what is now Cuba. In 1519
  he led a group of explorers and soldiers looking
  for a rich empire in what is now Mexico.
• Baby Cortes was born in Medellin, Spain. The
  governor of Hispaniola for Cortess expedition to
  the Americas.

• He arrived in 1503 to Santo Domingo where he
  became mayor. He also conquered Cuba. In 1519 he
  went to Mexico. He also conquered the Aztec
  empire.
• He fought and defeated several tribes of his
  enemies. He also gathered treasures from his
  conquest. He died at age 62 of pleurisy. When he
  died he was in debt because he financed many of
  his own expeditions.
